When I was a young buck, I was told by my mom that sugar came from the sugar cane plant, so every time I ate candy, I assumed it came from sugar cane. However, I came to find out that most any sweet item consumed nowadays is made with HFCS. Remember how good soda used to taste in the glass bottles, that was not because of the bottle, it was becase coke was once made with sugar and now it is made with HFCS. If you ever head out of the country into South America, you will find coke made with real sugar and you will see the difference is tremendous. But the taste of soda is not the only problem, I read somewhere that one can of soda has the equivalent of 13 teaspoons of sugar in the form of HFCS. That is a lot of sugar, imagine if you drink 4 cans a day. HFCS is just as sweet as sugar, it is not good for you at all, but it is cheaper than sugar, so food producers love it. Fructose has nothing to do with fruit. It is made of genetically modified corn and processed to increase the sugar content. Here is an experiment for you, go to the supermarket and look at the labels, try to find anything without HFCS or Corn Syrup in it. Gatorade has it, yogurt has it, things we think are healthy are laden with the stuff. On top of that, there are two things that stop appetite in humans, insulin and leptin. Turns out that HFCS stops or slows the production of these. And we wonder why we are all fat. So, in a short sentence STAY AWAY FROM HFCS it will make you fat and sick. And shop organic, I am pretty sure those do not have HFCS. These are just some foods I found that are made with HFCS, feel free to comment and add to the list.
