Epicerie Boulud: 1900 Broadway – Upper West Side/Lincoln Center – Native New Yorkers can pick up a touch of Daniel for their loved ones, while those outside the island can order from his online shop. Your sweetheart would be plenty happy with the Lovers in Bed Collection. It is an assortment of sweet & savory breakfast items and a perfect way to wake up. It includes Epicerie Boulud’s mini Brioche, Blue Ledge Farm maple Chevre and Damian Rio jam, and sweets to enjoy throughout the day like passion-honey marshmallows, Ãpicerie Boulud brandied cherry beignets, and Mademoiselle De Margeux chocolate covered Cherries ($159.00). Want Boulud, but you’re on a budget? No worries, stop by the shop and pick up a Queen of Hearts cake, it’s a heart-shaped flour-less chocolate cake filled with chocolate and vanilla mousse and layers of raspberry and praline. L’atelier du chocolat: 59 West 22nd Street – Flatiron District – Master Chocolatier Eric Girerd has created the most charming Valentines. Champagne bottles made of chocolate, painted in gold and filled with Champagne truffles. These are a steal at $35. If you are looking for something more traditional, you could get a box of his Fleur de Sel chocolates which were just named one of the top 10 in NYC by The New York Times.
Peanut Butter & Co. Sandwich Shop: 240 Sullivan Street (NOHO, Greenwich Village) – Peanut Butter = Love. Their $35 prix fixe menu includes heart-shaped peanut butter sandwiches accompanied by big glasses of cold milk. For dessert, the Peanut Butter Bliss Sundae: vanilla ice cream mixed with peanut butter, chocolate sauce, and a dollop of whipped cream. At the end of the meal, couples will receive “URA QT” and “BE MINE” candy Conversation Hearts AND a free jar of peanut butter to take home. Totally loving this one!
Pie Face: Locations on Murray Hill & Times Square – This Aussie pie shop just opened its second NYC location with a third opening in February. Pie Face specializes in sweet and savory pies, all with faces piped on top to denote their filling. Their special Valentine’s Day cherry pies have cute little heart-shaped mouths, and as Pie Face also specializes in coffee and espresso, they’re doing a sweet deal for Valentine’s: a mini cherry pie and regular coffee for $4.95 (incl. tax). It’s time to do something cute & out of the box!
Sugartooth Tours: Various Locations – You know Valentine’s day is synonymous with sweet things. Instead of dinner, you could think outside the box and book a “dessert experience” with Sugartooth. Their tours include at least 5 delicious tastings as well as a large helping of NYC history- both cultural and culinary. Their “Valentine’s Sweetheart’s Sugartooth Tour” will run at 4 PM Friday-Sunday before Valentines Day (2/8-2/10) and Thursday-Saturday (2/14-2/16). The tour costs $50 and $1 of each tour will be donated to CityHarvest.
Sugar and Plumm: 377 Amsterdam Avenue – Upper West Side/Museum of Natural History: Sugar & Plumm’s Chocolate Shop and Bake shop have some sweet offerings for Valentine’s day. The Big Heart ($20) is a handcrafted, over-sized dark chocolate heart filled with vanilla caramel and a delicate French biscuit cookie. For The Love Of Chocolates ($27) is an assortment of handcrafted artisan chocolates including flavors such as White Chocolate Blueberry, Pure Dark Mexican Chocolate, Raspberry, Vanilla, Coconut, Hazelnut Praline, Jasmine Tea, and Ginger. Finally, there is the Macaroon Heart Box ($40) filled with handmade macaroons including flavors such as Lemon, Pistachio, Green Apple, Salted Caramel, Rosewater Lychee and Passion Fruit.
