You’ll be fighting off hoards of women (and some men) at the sales rack on Black Friday. You’ll need to have energy before and you’ll need to recharge after. Look no further. We’ve put together a list of great restaurants in NYC that will take care of you this day:
Casa Nonna (310 West 38th Street – Garment District) – Parking in NYC is NEVER a steal. If you dine at Casa Nonna on Black Friday, you can park in the garage next door for three hours for just $10 or for six hours for only $15! That means you can have a great meal and full day of shopping without spending your gift-giving money on parking. I recommend the cavatelli al ragu di maiale ($18), plump and sinful ricotta dumplings with pork ragu and ricotta salata to help you replenish those calories lost during shopping.
Jeanne & Gaston (212 West 14th Street – West Village) If you’ve spent all your money at Loehmann’s, no need to fret. Bring in your receipt from a local shop (Meatpacking, Greeenwich Village, Flatiron, and Chelsea) and receive a complimentary Grand Marnier cocktail with your purchase of any food item. Have fun, shop, and help lower Manhattan. You can’t go wrong.
Neely’s Barbecue Parlor (1125 First Avenue – UES) – Details on Celebration: If you’ve spent all your hard earned cash at Bloomie’s on the Upper East Side, you’ll want to head over for Neely’s special Black Friday brunch (between 10am-3pm) featuring cocktails like a Red Velvet Mimosa ($8) and hearty plates like Smoked Brisket Hash with poached eggs and smoked tomato bearnaise ($ 15.75) and the “king”of brunch dishes: The Velvet Elvis ($12), French toast stuffed with peanut butter, bananas and fluff with Jack Daniels custard sauce.
Spina (175 Avenue B – Alphabet City) – Spina wants to help the local economy. If you visit Spina on Black Friday and show them that day’s receipt for a local shop (LES/Alphabet City) you receive a complimentary glass of prosecco. If your receipt is over $100, you also get a complimentary appetizer. I recommend that you check out Linhardt Designs, buy any of her hand made, conflict free NYC inspired pieces, 10% of sales will be donated to Sandy relief.
Sugartooth Tours – If competitive shopping is not your sport, sugartooth may be for you. They will be running a “Find Heaven in Hell’s Kitchen” dessert tasting tour from 12-2 PM on Friday 11/23. The cost is $50 and includes at 6 tastings (last 2-2.5 hours)as well as a large helping of NYC history, both cultural and culinary.
