The Lobster Roll Restaurant, also known as “Lunch,” is a nostalgic beach shack, serving lunch and dinner to locals and guests from around the globe. Their critically-acclaimed family restaurant serves beach-side favorites like lobster rolls, chowders, steamers, fresh seafood, chicken, burgers, sandwiches, steak and homemade pies. They also feature a full-bar, gluten-free menu, and an extensive children’s menu.

Chef Paul Deangelis has been working at the Lobster Roll for 36 years and he considers the restaurant as his second home.

Chef Paul Deangelis: Mainly seafood, but we also offer a wide variety of other items.
FE: What makes the restaurant special?
Chef Paul: Our unique nostalgic atmosphere ..We are a classic roadside eatery offering quality homemade items. Customers love our 50’s, 60’s, 70’s music and of course our take on LOBSTER… the classic cold salad or hot versions we offer.. We are AKA “LUNCH” due to the landmark sign on our building that has been there for 50 plus years…
FE: Where did you get your training?
Chef Paul: Florida International University.
FE: Did you grow up cooking or did cooking come to you later in life?
Chef Paul: Both… mom was a great cook and i have always had a passion for food.

FE: Who in your life influenced your cooking the most?
Chef Paul: Some of the better known celebrity chefs like Mario Batali, and Wolfgang Puck
FE: What made you decide to become a chef?
Chef Paul: I am not a classically trained chef but have worked in restaurants my entire life and was a Hospitality Management Professor at various colleges and schools as well.
FE: What misconceptions do people have when they first enter the culinary field?
Chef Paul: I think they do not realize the commitment it takes to work in this industry and the amount of stamina required to succeed.

FE: What is the best cooking tip you can share for a novice?
Chef Paul: Be open and aware at all times, be receptive to learn and improve.
FE: What are your three favorite cooking tools?
Chef Paul: I would have to say two chefs knifes (6 inch utility and 8 inch), and a saute pan
FE: What is the craziest thing that has happened in your kitchen?
Chef Paul: Well there have been some very interesting things happen over the years!…one would probably be the time i looked out the food pass through and sitting at the counter was a trio of famous musicians and actors..
FE: What is your favorite ingredient to cook with and why?
Chef Paul: Garlic! Love the smell, the taste ….I love to roast it, saute it, eat it and add it to a multitude of dishes….
FE: When you’re home, what is your guilty food pleasure?
Chef Paul: Homemade thin crust pizza with various toppings
FE: What is your favorite cookbook?
Chef Paul: My partner, Andrea’s, Lobster Roll Cookbook. It is full of unique and creative recipes. They truly accentuate seafood, a passion for the both of us.
