FriendsEAT: Tell us about your restaurant. What makes it special?
Chef Brian: I own Notorious Burgers with my wonderful wife, Julie Gruber and together we come up with some of the most unique well-favored menu items and are huge supporters of local craft breweries in San Diego. Just a few of the breweries that we support are Societe, Toolbox, Coronado and Green Flash Brewing Companies. So we proudly distribute local craft beer along with our one-of-a-kind gourmet burgers, fresh salads, meat and cheese boards, sandwiches and more. The restaurant has a fun mobster prohibition-themed environment that allows us to play up the names of our entrees like the “Notorious B.I.G.”burger and the “Pacino’s Pork”burger.
FE: Why do you think your recipe for “Curry Up Ya Chicken” is perfect for the summer season?
Chef Brian: I love the savory (spicy, but not too spicy) flavorful taste of the curried chicken and the light freshness of the hydro butter lettuce. The salad is topped off with a drizzle of basil vinaigrette and pairs perfectly with a pale ale or an IPA.

INGREDIENTS:
Pulled chicken
Granny Smith Apples
Fuji Apples
Walnuts
Pickles
Dried Cranberries
Panang Curry Mayo
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Boil chicken in chicken stock for 35 minutes then pull and cool.
2. Cut apples into 1-inch cubes and dice pickles.
3. Combine all ingredients and let marinate for 24 hours.
4. Serve with butter lettuce and basil vinaigrette.
