da Tommy Osteria is a casual, rustic, and comfortable, charming Italian restaurant in the West Village of New York. We had a chat with the owner, Tommaso Roncari, who shared with us a few tidbits about the restaurant, their food, and business philosophy. Here’s what we learned:

da Tommy Osteria in West Village New York

FE: What can you tell us about da Tommy Osteria ?

Tommaso Roncari: Simple ingredients, perfectly balanced with each other — that’s what rustic Italian cooking is all about. Alfio’s recipes use familiar ingredients but are also modern, offering a subtle element of surprise through interesting flavor pairings and the use of a wide range of produce and Italian pantry staples. There is a festive vibe to the recipes and text—this is food to share in a casual setting with family and friends. Wine pairings are offered for every recipe, adding to the convivial feeling of the book.

FE: In a few sentences, can you tell us what makes your restaurant different?

Tommaso: The food, ambience, the vibe. People love the music we play at the restaurant and the feeling of being comfortable and having fun. We dance, sing, drink, and enjoy.
