Gentilly Kitchen + Bar is the result of pairing the flair and flavor of New Orlean’s famed culinary and cocktail scene with the energy and excitement of New York City. In keeping with tradition, Gentilly serves up authentic dishes rooted in French and Creole culture with a modern twist. We had a chat with their publicist, Samantha Martin, who shared a few tidbits about the restaurant. Here’s what we learned:
FriendsEat: Can you tell us about Gentilly Kitchen + Bar
Samantha Martin: Who says you can’t go home again? Or at least bring a little bit of it to Manhattan? That is the goal of one New Orleans native who loves his hometown so much he decided to share a taste of it in his adopted hometown of New York City. Gentilly – named for the neighborhood he grew up in – hopes to celebrate some of NOLA’s most stylish, diverse and historic neighborhoods. Located on Carmine Street, we invite you to join us for some southern hospitality!
FE: Have you won any Awards?
Samantha: None as for now because we just opened in February
FE: What is your restaurant philosophy?
Samantha: It’s all about the customer. We love real and honest feedback. People should be able to get consistency when they go to eat and we strive to make our food amazing but consistent.

FE: In a few sentences, can you tell us what makes your restaurant different?
Samantha: We believe we have truly brought a piece of NOLA to NY. The owner grew up in Gentilly and it was his dream to open a real authentic southern restaurant where not everything is fried but the mix of Cajun, southern flavors all come together.
FE: By any chance do you offer deals or specials?
Samantha: Happy Hour, Bottomless Brunch. We are celebrating National Gumbo Day with a bottomless bowl for 30.00. The customer who eats the most gumbo wins a trip to NOLA on us.
