Although coffee drinkers are a defined lot, there are many people who cannot stand the taste of coffee because of its bitter taste.  Some go as far as adding extra sugar to their cups or even drowning this dark brew in lots of milk.  Many also opt for the “designer” brews which highlights more the added flavors than the wonderful taste of coffee.

As coffee has been gaining popularity in the past years due to its antioxidant benefits, it is unfortunate that there are those who stay away from the brew because of the bitter.  Fortunately, there is a way to lessen the tart taste without increasing dramatically the calorie content of a cup of joe caused by milk, sugar and cream.  All you have to do is a bit of salt.

Now you can enjoy a cup of pure coffee goodness without the intimidation of bitterness by adding a small pinch of salt.  You read it right — a small pinch.  The salt counters the bitter taste and instead highlights the other flavor notes of coffee: the deep, dark woodsy taste of the bean.

Next time, do not hesitate to order a cup of brew.  Just have a bit of salt ready, and now you can enjoy not only the taste but the health perks of coffee.
