Unlike the Soy Sauce flavored Kit Kat, the Cherry Blossom & Green Tea flavor did not disappoint. The bar boasts Sakura (cherry blossom) extract and says that it uses Uji Maccha (thanks Google Translate).
As soon as I sniffed it I thought about the many times I have had Maccha tea, it was a delicate and comforting scent. It was colored a lovely light green. On the pantone scale, I would say it was somewhere between Mellow Green, Leaf Green and Tea Green. Unlike the Soy Sauce flavor; the color was accurate.
The taste was white chocolate peppered with green tea. I have not experienced the cherry blossoms in Japan, but there was definitely a slight fruitiness on the finish. What did I think? It was delicious. Thankfully I have a box of 10 to work on for the next few months and a bunch of funky flavors: strawberry cheese cake, annin dofu (almond jelly), soy sauce and regular green tea (uji macha).
