Last week I gave plenty of great deals for Mother’s Day: a free bottle of prosecco at Millesime, a $35 prix fixe at Jeanne and Gaston. If you still have not made your Mother’s day resos, there’s still time. These restaurants have also prepared some great offerings for you to make mom feel special. Don’t put it off any longer. Abboccato: Give mom a tour of Italy without having to leave home. Treat your mom and your nonna to a four-course menu for $65 ($95 with selected Italian wines). Dishes include crispy zucchini blossoms filled with ricotta, ravioli filled with ramps in a bone marrow-butter sauce, and grilled halibut in a spring pea puree. Carmine’s: I’m not usually a fan of tourist traps, but there’s a special spot in my heart for Carmine’s. Besides, the food is really good and you can always hit up their Upper West Side location. Carmine’s “Mother’s Day Prime Rib Special: feeds Six at $70.50. Not bad, huh? Carmine’s has two locations one at 2450 Broadway – (212) 362-2200 and another at 200 West 44th Street, 212-221-3800. Molyvos: If she’s not a fan of Italy, how about transporting mom to the beaches of Greece? Executive Chef Jim Botsacos has created a three-course menu available for $52 (A la carte is also available – just in case you see something you must try). Dishes include: baked New Zealand mussels in skordalia, slow roasted Vermont baby lamb, and tha famous Molyvos sundae. Molyvos is located steps away from Central Park at 871 Seventh Avenue. Patsy’s Italian: This is the restaurant, not the pizzerias. They will be offering a $59 prix fixe menu (plus tax and tip) featuring some of their signature dishes: roasted peppers and mozzarella, baked clams, chicken cacciatore, eggplant parmigiana, veal Francese, and for dessert, guests can choose their favorite from the dessert cart. To make it extra special, every mom who dines there will get a bottle of Patsy’s homemade sauce. Patsy’s is close to Carnegie Hall at 236 West 56th street. Spice Market: This is the ultimate place for people watching and the place for the mom who likes a touch of the exotic. This year, Chef Anthony Ricco has created a special Mother’s Day Prix Fixe Menu for Sunday, May 13. Dishes featured include: lobster roll with Sriracha emulsion, spiced chicken samosas and a grilled strip steak with coriander. The Mother’s Day Menu will cost $66 per person (plus tax & tip). Spina: Spina will be serving up a very special brunch for mother’s day. Specifics have not been divulged yet, but a little birdie told me there’s a $10 bottle of Prosecco involved. Zengo: Richard Sandoval’s Latin-Asian NY Restaurant will be hosting a Mother’s Day dinner ($40 per person) starting at 5pm. It includes 3 savory small plates and 1 dessert. I’m thinking Hiramasa tiradito, morcillas, and charred tuna wonton tacos. Zengo is located at 622 Third Ave. (just a few steps from Grand Central Station).
