Cali, Colombia is hot. The city is as hot as its famed salsa dancers. That means you need to find ways to cool down so you can enjoy the city. Cali’s locals have a great place to beat the heat – The Lab Nitrogen Ice Cream in the El Peñón neighborhood.

The Lab Nitrogen Ice Cream

It sits in one of Cali’s most exclussive neighborhood and is surrounded by boutiques and high end restaurants. The shop itself is small. When you walk in, the menu is on the wall on the right hand side. This is how the process begins:

Pick a Base: Yogurt or Gelato

Pick a Flavor: They have tons of fruit and lacteous flavors. This will be the flavor of your ice cream. I chose coffee – since it was Colombia.

Pick a Topping (or two): There are tons to choose from, even American candy (which was so nice after being in Colombia for 3 months). There are fruits, cookies, you name it. I chose biscotti.

Once you’ve made your choices, all you have to do is wait a little less than a minute. Your fro yo or gelato will be made within 60 seconds. The results are superb. I would absolutely recommend a trip to either of their locations in Cali. It’s worth every calorie.
