One of the loveliest places to see the foliage is Rhinebeck, NY in Dutchess County. It is calm, has gorgeous shops, plenty of places to see nature, and is really close to the CIA (not the governmental agency silly…the culinary school). This means that there are some amazing restaurants in the area. One of my faves for years has been Rhinebeck.

Terrapin Restaurants in one of my favorites in NY state not just because they have a great philosophy, but because they serve delicious food, gorgeous wines, and some serious cocktails.

To celebrate the fall season, I asked Matt Johnston, Terrapin’s Bar Manager to share with us a recipe he felt fit not just the season, but the feel of Rhinebeck, NY.

His reply: Terrapin’s Spiced Caramel Apple Cocktail. Matt told us that  ”at Terrapin, we strive to showcase the bounty of The Hudson Valley, while also saluting the current season.  This cocktail recipe shakes up the fun of Fall, Halloween, and Farmer’s Markets all into one glass! It’s a sophisticated sip with a hint of childlike sweetness.”

Ingredients

2 oz. Ginger-infused Dutch’s Moonshine
1 oz. Van Gogh Dutch Caramel Vodka
1 oz. (Farm Fresh Hudson Valley) Apple Cider
Splash of Lemon Juice

Method

Crushed gingersnap and local NYS Maple Syrup Rim, with a Granny Smith Apple Wedge for Garnish.

Shake ingredients with ice and serve up.

Terrapin Restaurant is located at 6426 Montgomery Street Rhinebeck, NY
