Rosa Mexicano: All three locations are offering a special Tequila Valentín cocktail. For $13, the sweet, refreshing and slightly spicy drink combines fresh muddled strawberries, Herradura Silver and chocolate tequilas, topped with a cava float. The chocolate tequila is complete with a hint of Jalapeno spice, perfectly balanced with the fruity strawberry garnish. I particularly like their Union Square location. Jeanne & Gaston: This brand new Modern French Bistro in the West Village will be offering an amazing Valentine’s menu. For $55 you get three courses created by Chef Claude Godard (Maitre Cuisinier de France and a Michelin star). Flex Mussels: Has set up a meal made for romance. The seafood plateau ($100) boasts lobster tail, oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp, ceviche and tartare. The mussels Perigord sit in a broth of champagne and truffle butter and topped with nearly a pound of sweet lobster meat, I’d be impressed ($39). For reservations call (212)229-0222.
1534 Bar: If you’re going stag and are sick of the cold, 1534 is hosting a “summer fling” just for you. The underground speakeasy will serve tapas-style bites. You can mix and mingle with other singles over a signature punch bowl ($130) or raise a toast to the single life with one of their Tiki Cocktails ($12-$13). For details call (212) 966-5073.
Uva: They have updated their menu with special Valentine’s day inspired items to make the day special. Dishes will include a heart shaped crab meat salad with smoked salmon, avocado gondola and salmon caviar, and a Valentine red beat ravioli in butter and chive sauce topped with shaved fig log and poppy seeds. The Boathouse at Central Park: Their Valentine’s day menu runs a bit more expensive than most places, but it is the most romantic spot in NYC. Dinner will cost you $110 per person (plus taxes and tips), but with items like oysters and foie gras on the menu it is quite understandable. For more details or reservations call (212) 517-2233.
Hotel Chantelle: At $149 per couple, this is a steal. Their four-course prix-fixe menu that includes a bottle of champagne, a tasting of hors d’oeuvres and your choice of starter, entree, and dessert. Oceana: If you’re in the mood for a Michelin starred day of love, this place may do the trick. Chef Ben Pollinger has created a pre-set menu of lobster and foie gras ravioli ($28) steamed George’s Bank sole ($35) with shaved black truffles ($50 Supplement) and a French pastry duet consisting of a salty caramel st. honorè & raspberry opera dark chocolate sorbet ($19). Abboccato: Executive Chef Jim Botsacos specializes in authentic Italian flavors. His four-course prix-fixe menu, ($70 or $100 with selected Italian Wines) includes dishes like beau solei oysters on the half shell with vin santo and horseradish granites, “pinched” ravioli flled with wild mushrooms, ricotta and porcini cream sauce, grilled swordfish, baked kumato tomato, asparagus, salsa verde, and Valentines Torta Di Fragola vanilla sponge cake, strawberry cream, strawberry sorbet. Penthouse 808, at the Ravel Hotel: Maybe you’re in Queens and don’t feel like making the trek to Manhattan. If this is the case, Penthouse 808’s prix fixe at $99 per couple may be your thing. Dishes include an asian pear salad, a ginger marinated steak and chocolate banana spring rolls. It also includes a bottle of sparkling rose. Besides, the view is spectacular.
