Summer heat is on full blast. Girls in short dresses, guys ballin’ on the courts, and me dining “al fresco” all over NYC. If you love nothing more than sipping on sauvignon blanc while the sun gently caresses your skin, these are restaurant you MUST visit summer 2012.
Jeanne & Gaston (212 West 14th Street) This West Village gem has one of the loveliest gardens in NYC. Once there you’ll forget your day’s worries as you bite into one of the best burgers in town.
La Mangeoire (1008 Second Avenue) This place transports you to the French countryside. Meals are traditional, rustic even. Grab a seat out front, order a rose and watch the beautiful people walking by.
The Grill at La Piscine: (518 West 27th Street) Located at the brand new Hotel Americano in Chelsea, this spot has one of the best views in NYC (Empire State Building AND the Highline). I suggest you get their de-constructed Greek salad. Did I mention it has a POOL?
Pera: (54 Thompson Street) Pera’s brand new SoHo location has a killer outdoor area, just get there early because it fills up fast!
Pier I: (500 West 70th Street) – It’s not really on 70th, it’s on Riverside Park with an entrance on 70th. It will be worth your travels. The food is merely ok, but this is the best place to relax and grab a drink if you have a canine companion (you’ll probably see me there).
Spina: (175 Avenue B) Spina has been a favorite of mine for years. Fresh pasta, a killer wine list, and as of recently, outdoor seating. Did I mention their super cool murals and their water mist machine?
The Beach at the Dream Downtown: (355 West 16th Street) If you absolutely need to squish your toes in the sand sand, this is your spot. They’ve imported sand, set up cabanas and chaises lounges that will make you feel like you’re in Cannes. For food, there’s a casual lunch & dinner menu by Executive Chef Manuel Trevino at their cafe. Just remember, you may want to book a room so you can use the pool.
