It was a pound. It's difficult to say one way or the other. Seems like everytime I go their to either look at a rescue or to look for a dog for my mother with Alzimers they weren't very sympathetic about helping me locate a small little lap dog for mom to hold. They always tell me I have to check online, then it's first come first serve. I've been first in line on Monday morning after seeing a dog online Friday or Saturday and they will tell me -oh that one has already been adopted - How? I was first in line!!!! Then I ask if I can leave my number because I'm in a wheelchair and it's very difficult for me to drive up there and then be told -that one is already gone-! This happens more often than not! How is a person with limited income supposed to find a lap dog for his Mother fighting Alzimers? I'd like to know!!!! Anyone that can help me please reply to this post......

I adopted a hamster! The dude helping me was nice and helpful, but left me to wrangle the hamster from the cage myself. I'm a fairly experienced hamster owner, but trying to tease a shy little guy into a tunnel to trap him for transport isn't something I'm 100% confident with yet. The building also smells like urine. I was mainly in the lobby so idk about the rest of the building, but it smelled pretty bad. The shelter overall appears clean aside from that. Overall, a decent small animal adoption experience.

The lack of empathy and human decency from the veterinary/animal services staff when surrendering an animal is appalling. Came to surrender an 8 month old healthy puppy because she wasn’t adjusting to my apartment. I was told repeatedly that they will only accept surrenders if they have open space. When I was handing over the dog (a super social and sweet Border Collie), I was told (coldly) that she is going to be euthanized AFTER I was told they had room for her and had made the decision to give her up. Never again will I bring another innocent animal here. I hope my sweet Dakota rests well.

I adopted my forever friend on 5/2/22. His name was Alonzo and he was selected by the police dept to keep an eye on. When I got him he was scared and very thin. Now you wouldn't know him as the same dog. His name is now Rian, it's Irish first lucky and happy and he is certainly that. He has a lab mix house mate and they're very attached to each other. Triton had great patience in teaching Rian how to play with toys and us. That was a joy to watch. They don't like to be separated even at nap time. Rian is learning to be an emotional support dog and is doing great at it. He is now a fat and sassy beautiful dog that receives lots of love every day. I'm thankful we were able to find each other. I was looking for a shepherd when I met him and just couldn't leave him. Very attached and pleased with him.The staff was very helpful and patient they gave me a lot of time to spend with him to make my decision. They also took him to an outside run so he could meet our other dog making sure they were compatible. I'm thankful for that.

My dog was impounded on Oct.11 when I got her back on Oct. 21 her hair was falling out, she looked like she had lost 30 lbs and she was sick. She wouldn't eat, and she keeps throwing up and having diarrhea that was a blackish color, with yellowish color mucus coming out of her nose. Worst experience ever! They told me my dog was aggressive and she has not been aggressive ever! I am so upset and disappointed in the level of service that these dogs received when they have to be quarantined! So not only did I have to pay $435 to get my dog back now I have to pay outrages Vet fees just to make sure she isn't going to die! And all the animal shelter told me was they did nothing. Not to mention my dog had scratches on her legs from where she was being dragged! So freaking sad!

We got our forever dog on 4/14/22. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a good experience all around and the adoption process was very seamless. The shot records, registration and dog tag were all included with the adoption. Our dog was pretty shaken up from her time on the street and in the shelter but two weeks later she has gained 7 pounds and is becoming a very affectionate girl. If you are looking to adopt a pet this is a great place to go.
