I believe this is probably one of the top 3 sushi places I've been to. But this has the best Japanese fried rice which really pushed the rating up. I find the edamame and sushi rolls we had to be adequate, fried rice to be one of the best I've ever had and dessert to be very delicious. The staff was attentive and the atmosphere is nice but sometimes a little too noisy depending on people sitting around you.Located near downtown, the restaurant is easy to get to. Value proposition-wise, I thought the rolls we ordered were probably unjustifiable both in portion and flavour. They were decent, but I didn't feel satisfied thinking that was well worth the experience. I got more value out of fried rice and edamame than anything. This is a must-try place if you're a fan of Japanese food and sushi with somewhat high-end ingredients. I thought it was great overall.

Absolutely wonderful experience with the food as well as a service staff! Our server was relatively new and she knew so much and you could tell that she had been through a ton of training. The quality of the fish is amazing and there’s a really great amount of selection to choose from, whether you’re going to sashimi, nigiri, or rolls. They even have a wasabi tiramisu!

Regarding my reviews on Google Maps. Since Google doesn't provide any kind of guidelines on the expectations of what a 5 star rating requires or means. That makes it difficult person to person to decipher what "good" or "great" is. Let alone that one persons 3 star rating is another's 5 star experience. That being said. I eat out a lot and at some pretty nice places. I've recently decided to review each place I eat and add pictures. I will comment on the things that are important to me for a restaurant or other establishment to have a high rating. For me the following are important when rating a restaurant.1) Cleanliness overall including the bathrooms2) Service and staff behavior3) Food and beverage quality4) Prices (I do not put a lot of emphasis on price if all other aspects meet my expectations I'm willing to pay)5) Atmosphere (this is obviously in the eye of the beholder)I hope this makes my reviews more helpful and meaningful to all usersI dined here alone. It appears they are still not seating anyone at the sushi bar itself. I made a reservation through open table and everything went fine with that. They say me at a table close to the entrance. My server was new and just out of training she did a great job. I started with their Japanese Old Fashioned. Oops times 2. The drink was well made with a single large cube as I requested. I think my server made it as it seemed precisely measured. They do give you a time restriction of 1.5 hours for a table for one. I don't really care for that but it worked out ok. The spicy edamame was delicious. The available fish list was adequate. There was no "aburi" option listed on the menu but I asked my server and it was available for certain cuts of fish. I had my fatty tuna done aburi style. All the sushi was delicious. The atmosphere is a little plain and stark for my taste. If someone asked me to go there again I would definitely go no problem.Good Drinks, Great Sushi

One of the best spiritual sushi experiences I had. Every bite of nigiri was an out of body experience. The rice was perfectly seasoned and the fish was fresh, you can tell the chefs care. Highly recommend this place for those who truly appreciate the art. When I crave sushi this is the exact flavor profile I’m looking for. Service was great, my table was cleaned before the check was delivered. The cocktails were also very skillfully crafted. The only downside was eating my dinner in the basement dinning room instead of soaking in the symphony in the main dining room.

I’ll keep this short and sweet.- Probably worth the money if you’re not seated in the awkward, white tablecloth-absent, ambiance lacking basement.- Food was pretty good but would personally opt for Blue after trying Sasa.- Hot food comes out lukewarm, not hot, as another review mentioned.- Drinks were good, friendly staff. We ordered the Pork Buns to start, with the hamachi. Then ordered the Dragon roll, trout roll, tuna nigiri, and a Salmon roll.

Great sushi place with fresh fishes and good customer service. However, wish they can plan out your dining experience better, like serving nigiri and sashimi before the hot dishes. Also, the hot dishes came out only cool to luke warm, not actually hot...

Our experience was just ok, the food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. When we first walked in the door, the hostess seemed very put out and inconvenienced that we were checking in for our reservation. We sat at our table a good ten minutes before our server came over to greet us. I don’t think we was a bad server, I just think that she had too many tables sat at once. When our hot sake came out it was cold, but the server took care of it for us. We then ordered 3 apps and they came out staggered, which was nice. The seaweed salad had several different seaweed which was yummy. The calamari was also good but more of an entree than appetizer. The sushi we ordered was all good and we would get all the rolls again. We would have probably ordered 2 more rounds of drinks if our server had checked in on us more, but at the end of the day that was her loss. The food was good but we will probably not be back.

The food was great, but not what I thought I ordered. I thought I was getting nigiri rolls but instead it was a huge bowl of rice with raw fish on top. The bartender quit on the spot that night so no alcohol was served. All the workers were still in masks, and they ran out of all their deserts. Maybe we were just there on a bad night but I don’t plan to try it again to find out. Food was really good but really over priced.

Omakase - chefs choice. It was very much that and it had some highlights. My biggest criticisms being the lack of flow between dishes, some elements of mixed flavors, and the sashimi cut too thick. A minor issue, while sitting at the sushi counter - being so high they couldn’t place the sushi for you. It was handed to you on platters that you served yourself. The highlight was thankfully the oysters and the actual sushi, surged at the end of the meal. The unagi was a bit over cooked and under seared but was still tasty. I watched the team crank out a crazy number of rolls that weren’t offensive looking. Overall I’d recommend this for more of a sushi party night with a selection of rolls.

I thought the apps were absolutely fantastic and honestly better than the sushi/nigiri/sashimi, which imo were just inaccessibly priced. We started with the (very tiny) west coast oysters, delicious but brief, followed by salsa trio, one of the best apps I’ve ever had, and then the Ankimo plate, which is monkfish liver served with small piece of foi gras and steamed sweet buns and the best appetizer I’ve ever had anywhere. The main two rolls were tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. Same goes for the halibut nigiri. A bit of a been-there-done-that, especially for the price.I felt that the dessert was the weakest part of it. I didn’t care for the tempura cheesecake. It’s kinda fun on paper but felt and tasted a bit gimmicky, kinda like food you’d get at a carnival. It’s served a la mode with chocolate and strawberry purée.100% would come back here just to order like 5 of those Ankimo plates.
