The second outpost of Slow Fish (Huntington Beach) is a sleeper with inexpensive, top quality sushi housed in Kevin Kang's sophisticated interior, and Chef Sean An's signature dishes - seared, seasoned albacore tuna in an avocado apple; marinated short ribs and live shrimp specials. Bento box and Happy Hour specials can't be beat.

Walk in and you're accosted by the coolness of this place -- the mismatchy chandeliers, the rosette textures walls, the swanky music. Sexy. Hip. Chic. Casual. Urban.I immediately was drawn to everything. Te textures, colors, feminine touch to the urban setting. Dark purples. Slate Greys. We started with the garlic soy edamame, sautéed. This was a nice salty goodness. Sunomono - traditional pickled cucumbers - were fresh and light. The Yuzu ponzu hamachi was wrapped fish around daikon, soaked in Yuzu, topped with a sliced jalapeño. Nice fusion-seeming dish, very well presented.Albacore delight was fresh and light, with nice subtle flavors.Good if you're in the area, but nothing insanely memorable, except for the black rice sushi rolls. It tastes just like white rice, but is black. Nice dinner trick!

This is probably the best sushi place in the Miracle Mile neighborhood. It's got a very fairly priced happy hour, and the decor is very inviting and trendy. The service is usually great, but hasn't always been perfect. While there are better places within a two mile radius, this is a great place for some good sushi.

I seem to have a strong tendency to crave for good sushi after a busy and tough week. I wanted to go somewhere I've never been. More than several friends recommended this place so I decided to try. The restaurant was small, but the decor was contemporary and hip. Very cute. There were many creative items on the menu. We ordered some rolls, side dishes, and a glass of Sauvignon blanc. They offer black rice for sushi. That's very new to me. I had to try it and see what it's like. The rice was cooked and seasoned very well. The roll was absolutely delicious. Avocado sashimi dish, shrimp ravioli, garlic edamame, red chili shrimp dish were brought to our table. All of them were super good. I like fusion and I enjoy it, but I have my own theory that good sushi bars serve great nigiri. After all delicious rolls and side dishes, I had to order a couple of nigiris to see if this place was a real good sushi place. I had salmon and mackerel nigiri. The fish was fresh and the rice was small. Just like the way it should be. I was very happy about what I had, and was so glad that I came here. The service was great. The staff was pleasant and attentive.I will definitely come back here. Very happy that I was able to end the tough week and start the weekend with such a pleasant meal. 4 stars.

The black rice thing seemed a gimmick, but it was darn tasty. The interior seems a bit odd and more like a lounge than a sushi joint. The service was ok, but probably a bit too slow on what was a light lunch crowd. Overall, I'd go back mostly for the food with the hopes that the service would be a little better.
