Now I am not the Indian food expert, nor will I claim to be. I have only had Indian food in London back in 2005 several times at the same restaurant. So, I was dying to eat it again and went on a search for a local Indian restaurant. I found Satish Palace and decided to give it a shot.

So, tonight, I found directions and headed out. When I walked in, the host/waiter was slammed with phone calls for take out & deliveries (a good sign, I thought).

I was seated quickly and was brought some flatbread with toppings and water immediately. I browsed the menu and was bombarded with things that I wanted to try. Eventually I decided on an appetizer and a main dish.

I ordered the samosa vegetable (crisp turnover filled with mildly spiced potatoes and peas) as an appetizer and it came out quickly. It was so delicious. It came with some sauce but it didn't even need it. I actually preferred it without the sauce.

For an entree, I ordered bayngan bhurta (Eggplant roasted in the tandoor and cooked with green peas, fresh tomatoes, onions, ginger, and garlic. Punjabi style) with a side of nan. The friendly waiter was prompt to fill up my forever empty glass of water.

When the main course came, I was overwhelmed by the aroma of the rice. So intriguing. A sweet, spicy smell. Then I placed the rice & bayngan bhurta on my plate and began my meal. It was so wonderful, I wanted to keep on after I had begun to feel full. The portions are pretty plentiful. Very reasonable prices.

Once I decided that it was time to stop, the waiter came over to fill my glass up again, and asked if I was wanting dessert. I had to pass. I got the check, wrapped up my leftovers, and paid my bill. It was only $23 for me, and thats with the tip.

They could've rolled me out of there because I felt so full!! I will definitely be back to indulge at the Palace, because it is just too good to have just once. Now I know why the phone was constantly ringing with orders the whole time I was there!!!
