This place Is beautiful. The staff was friendly and warm, without being annoying. The majority of people were dressed nice but it had no set dress code. This gives it a very nice fine dining atmosphere. We got a 3 course set price meal and the portions of the salmon and chicken were generous. The food tasted amazing and the desserts were light and airy. I do not drink coffee and usually only like black teas with milk and sugar. Their after dinner tea had the lightest cinnamon flavor, normally I hate any flavoring in my tea but it was perfect and the tea was smooth and not bitter at all. I really enjoyed dinner here and would love to come back for an afternoon tea time.

The esthetic of the restaurant is a lot of fun. But based on the prices, it seems like they rely on the older times when the restaurant was more successful. Feels like a hollowed shell of what it used to be now, but it still holds the same prices and portions of a modern fine dining restaurant. Now it kind of reminds me of the Russian version of an old red lobster from a nice neighborhood. I went for the experience but idk what if anything is supposed to bring you back.

I eat here often because I love the old school grand opulence. The vodka selection is amazing but every time I dine there they seem to be out of something that I would like to order. I recommend using the “seared” app because if you reserve your table with them after your meal you take a picture of your receipt and get like 22% back on your meal!

Beautiful old restaurant - 95 years old -- I've wanted to eat here for many years, and this year my husband booked us a table for our weekend NYC getaway. Service was great. Atmosphere was good - could do better with the downstairs bathroom - dark halls. Food needs improvement. I had the wild mushroom stroganoff which was wonderful. Bread rolls were served beforehand -- seemed to be rolls you could get anywhere - not even warm - and with cold butter. Get the tiramisu off the menu. Ours was still frozen in the middle. Please add some real Russian treats to your dessert list. Little tweaks to the menu will greatly improve the overall experience.

I have similar thoughts with some reviews here. A good place to enjoy a special restaurant experience with good services but the food doesnt worth the price.????The only thing that impressed me is the dessert which might because that I didn’t have a high expectation. The chocolate Mi-Cuit was moist in the middle and went well with the ????cherry ice cream. The entree red wine short rib was soft but dry; the flavor of the pasta with it was good but was over cooked. The dough was dull. The beet soup came with a small puff pastry. It was a classic. Nothing special, just ok.

The restaurant is beautiful, caviar delicious. A couple of the appetizers were very good. My entrée lacked flavor and the wait staff was a hit or miss. Our waiter wasn’t the friendliest, but the waiter at the next table talked to us quite a bit and was super friendly. I almost wondered if he was trying to make up for our waiter being such a dud. It was located close to our hotel, which made it convenient. I debated between three or four stars, and landed on 4 because most of the food was really good.

If you are looking for a different experience from the classic places in NYC, this restaurant is a good option, this space offers a russian menu with various dishes and drinks. We went on a weekend for brunch and really enjoyed our visit. The food is good, the attention excellent; we felt an elegant environment but at the same time an accessible place. In addition you can buy various russian items. I would like to say that this is a good place, but not the most incredible, however, I would recommend it.

The 1-star food quality is consistent with a Holiday Inn breakfast buffet. The only thing reminiscent of its former glory are the decor and the $75pp for an omelette and a cocktail. We’re happy we went, we now know with certainty that we don’t want to go (again). The cool campy decor gives it a second star.
