Mulled Wine

1 bottle red wine (750 ml)

2 cups of port

1 cup of sugar

2 cinnamon sticks

Peel from 2 oranges

10 cardamom pods

10 cloves

1 cup of cognac or grand marnier

Non-reactive saucepan

Cheese cloth or tea bag

Step 1Heat the wine and port with sugar in a non reactive pot over medium heat.

Step 2Put the orange peel and spices in a tea bag and add to wine.

Step 3Simmer 20 minutes.

Step 4Add cognac and simmer for 5 more minutes.

Step 5Remove spice bag.
