NEVER HAVE HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE... Seems like always something, i.e. wife asked for well done steak, had to send it back 3 time just to stop the blood from coming out (no kidding) finally gave up. Once made reservation for small office Christmas lunch gathering. They took reservation, when arrived had to wait and sit at seperate tables. asked if could join tables would not allow it. Have had some decent food but doesn't warrant my return to their establishment. Not very well run.
Many locals, but few true Southerners rave about this place. I went there with a group of four people and no one was extremely impressed with their food. Our waitress seemed quite distracted and took over twenty minutes to bring us the check after we requested it. Extremely busy during lunch so go there prepared to wait and make sure you are not starving because the food does not come out fast either. They serve what they think is Southern food and everything is somewhat close, but just not quite right. I had their shrimp and grits, but the grits were not flavored enough (needed more butter.) If eating here, you should probably stick to just simple breakfast choices, since those are harder to mess up. I would never return and not recommend it to anyone unless you do not know what Southern food really tastes like.
Tupelo Honey is a great southern restaurant downtown. There's always a line of people waiting to get in, and for a good reason. They have great Southern food with a twist, delicious homemade biscuits and jam, and classics such as fried chicken, pan fried trout, catfish, and also plenty of veggie options. The perfect place to go for a fried green tomato BLT. They also use organic local ingredients, and have a nice wine and beer list. A great place!
