Many rave about the restaurant's flavorful and authentic Mexican dishes, while others criticize the use of single-use plastic containers and the high prices.

One customer writes, "Such a cute vibe and food was incredible. Everything tasted very fresh. Plants were positioned everywhere which made for a chill environment. Seating options were plentiful. We went during busy hours and still found a seat and parking. You order off a QR code and they bring the food out to you. We were surprised with how quickly we received our food, as there were only 2 runners in the back of this busy restaurant. We helped ourselves to waters from a cooler. The idea of this restaurant is fantastic and low maintenance. A few things that we did notice is that the food containers that are served in seem to be wasteful (unless they reuse them). The tortillas were a bit soggy. Also, the only tables left were small circular ones. There were 3 of us and we had ordered a few extra plates for chips/dip. We had to put some plates and drinks on the ground to make room for everything. However, that was an 'us' problem since we chose the table, knowing that there were 3 of us. Price was a little high at least compared to Mexican type eateries in Houston. However, great experience, delish food, and we left overall satisfied. You cannot order wrong at this place. We will be back!"

Another customer had a different experience, writing, "The food was good. The migas were a bit soggy, but not terrible. I gave it 3 stars because they served our food in plastic to go containers. It's horribly wasteful to serve food in to go containers. Why not invest in proper dining ware? Especially as a restaurant. As someone who is trying to lessen my carbon footprint, I was sorely disappointed to be served on single-use plastic ware. I wouldn't go here again solely because of this reason."

Overall, Tamale House East is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine in a trendy and laid-back atmosphere.
