Situated in the busy district of Back Bay next to the Amtrak station, Douzo sushi serves clients of many demographics. Friendly staff, responsible management, and cozy ambiance, it’s a great setting for business meal or family gatherings. GM Eugene and Mgr. Ton were very professional and took patron’s feedback seriously, evidence of a well-run restaurant. The dish presentation was very nicely done, especially the Douzo tasting boat, and the uni bowl was very very fresh, worth the price. Unagi rice was sweet and tender, great choice for lunch. Lunch bento box was very reasonably priced with enough quantity to serve one person. We went for a birthday celebration and were surprised to receive a complimentary chocolate fondue desert for the birthday.Overall, Douzo is definitely a candidate for repeated visits.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Sat at the bar and the bartender was surely fun to chat with.Food quality is great and prices are fair for the quantity/quality ratio.Salad and sushi expect to spend around 50+$ and add to it 10-15$/cocktail.I highly recommend this restaurant!

A years-standing date-worthy Japanese bistro perfect for presentable meet-ups with people you sort of know but not really know of.You’ll get to enjoy a decent, lightly boozed conversation and delicious Japanese food catered to the educated upper-middle class in a sophisticated yet still relatable environment. This restaurant miraculously resolves the dichotomy between formal v. casual, business v. personal, and fancy v. reasonable. After paying three visits this place spread over a decade, I wish it continues to flourish and serves the Back Bay audience to the same high standard it has always had.

Delicious food. They have gluten free options. I visited them for lunch. Smaller plates and more reasonably priced. Veronica was serving us. She was incredible!I highly recommend this place!

At first I honestly thought it was going to be another expensive fancy Boston restaurant serving another sushi menu. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was worth every penny. The selection, quality and flavor was some of the best sushi I think I've ever had. Good service, nicely paced. We sat at the sushi bar and were amazed at the constant activity of 6 sushi chefs slicing, rolling, and serving the entire time we sat there. The atmosphere is nice and modern. The food is pricey but really is excellent!

This place is flat out amazing. The atmosphere is great. If you want to hit the bar, dine with a couple of friends or even have a whole group. Loved the waigyu beef bun and the shorts ribs were amazing. They also have an old fashioned here that is on legendary status. I will be here again a recommend this spot to anyone.Dine in: Yes

It is a modern or fusion typed of Japanese sushi with a trace of traditional sushi house. Restaurant is clean with practical table arrangement. Friendly and knowledgeable staffs to help and explain to guests. Convenient location near Boston Copley Place, and next to a validated parking garage. Foods are decent in portion, quality, as well as price wise. Reservation is recommended during peak hours.

The specialty rolls were amazing (we got the Mt Fuji and Phoenix rolls). The chef's selection special was great value for what was received. This is the best sushi you can get at this price point.Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Slightly upscale sushi spot with great Japanese tapas and decent sushi. My friend and I recently took a visit hoping to find another good sushi spot in the Back Bay area. With modern interiors and the menu featuring a variety of Japanese small bites, this place initially reminded me of Uni on Mass Ave. We started off with some bites, and the creamy and umami finish of the uni shot and the buttery texture of the XO toro were particularly memorable. However, other dishes ended up being just okay for the price. The sushi was also a bit of a letdown. None of the sushi pieces stood out as impressive, and the overall quality of the sushi from the Chef’s selection wasn’t too different from that of typical neighborhood sushi places.Nevertheless, Douzo is still a decent option whether you’re looking for a casual or a romantic sushi spot. The regular sushi selections may not be the best option, but some of their small bites are good enough to make the meal special.

Our experience started with reservations. We had originally placed a reservation for 5 people but last minuet had to change it to a table for 6. We called and let them know the day of. They were able to make this modification for us over the phone but let us know we could only dine for 2 hours maximum. I understand the time cap for adding an additional person last minuet, but I didn't like feeling that we might have to rush our dinning experience beforehand. We parked in the parking garage next to the restaurant. Something cool that they do is validate parking for 3 hours but only if you park after 5pm. This was not advertised on their website, it was just on a poster at the door. We parked at the parking lot only to go to this restaurant and arrived at 4:45, we asked for validation on our way out and they said they wouldn't do it because it wasn't exactly after 5. I understand that we were not there exactly at 5 but we got to our reservation early. That was a pretty disappointing experience because we would have parked after 5 if we knew ahead of time. They were quick to seat us even though we arrived early and the service was very fast and efficient which was very nice. Our waitress was kind and knowledgably about the menu and was very willing to answer any questions we had.The food is expensive for what it is. All the food had great flavors, I didn't dislike anything we ordered. But, it didn't taste very much different from other medium grade sushi restaurants I had been too. I thought I was going to be blown away because word of mouth is that this is the best place to get sushi in Boston. In the end, its just a good sushi restaurant with inflated prices. All in all, I would not go back to Douzo but I am glad that I finally got to try it.
