- 2 wholeDungeness crabs, live (1½–2 lbs each)
- 1½ lbssmall red potatoes, halved
- 4 earscorn on the cob, cut into thirds
- 1 largeyellow onion, quartered
- 4 clovesgarlic, smashed
- ¼ cupOld Bay seasoning
- 2 lemonslemons, halved (plus wedges for serving)
- 6 quartswater (or enough to fill large pot)
- 1 bunchfresh parsley, for garnish
- 8 tbspbutter, melted (for dipping)
Recipe serves 4 people
Instructions
- 1Fill a large 8–10-quart stockpot with water. Add Old Bay, lemons, garlic, onion, and bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2Add potatoes; cook for 10 minutes.
- 3Add corn; cook another 5 minutes.
- 4Using tongs, gently lower live crabs into pot. Cover and steam for 20-25 minutes until crab shells turn bright red and meat reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
- 5Remove crabs, corn, and potatoes with tongs or a large spider skimmer. Drain briefly.
- 6Transfer to a newspaper-lined platter or table. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges. Serve hot with melted butter and additional Old Bay for sprinkling.

Chef's Notes
Keep crabs on ice until ready to cook. Provide crab crackers and seafood picks for easy eating. Substitute beer for half the water for deeper flavor, if desired.
