Ingredients

  • 8 ozprovolone cheese slice, ½-inch thick round or rectangular
  • ½ tspdried oregano
  • ¼ tspred pepper flakes
  • 1 tspextra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 loafcrusty bread (baguette or ciabatta), sliced
  • 1 pinchcoarse sea salt
  • 1 pinchfreshly ground black pepper

    Preheat a small cast-iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until very hot.

    Lightly brush both sides of the provolone with olive oil.
